Question about JSON and licensing

I was speaking to someone the other day and they told me that when you ingest JSON formatted files and set INDEXED_EXTRACTIONS=json in props.conf, that you will not be charged for the field names!?!? Is this correct? This does not seem right based on splunk licensing model.
