How do you create a custom KMZ File?

I have a requirement where I need to create a Custom Choropleth Map of locations for my organization. I understand we can get this done using a geospatial lookup. The document says we need to upload a KMZ file and then create the lookup.

But how do we create a custom KMZ file? any pointers to this?
