Splunk ITSI

How to reduce Splunkd CPU Usage?

sam4nik

Hi,

We have Splunk Enterprise in Cluster and in one SH we have installed ITSI and many critical searches are running.
On that server, we are getting high CPU(more than 85%) usage and Splunkd is taking more.
Please help how can we reduce so that it work properly without affecting our production.

Thanks and regards,
Nikhil Dubey

Hi @sam4nik,
you could try to analyze if there are scheduled searches not affering to ITSI that maybe you could disable on the ITSI Search Head.
Otherwise the only hint is to maje a Capability and understand if the number of your CPUs is suffient to manage the load.

Then how many CPUs have you in that Search Head?
You can find the Reference Hardware for ITSI at https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/ITSI/4.4.3/Install/Plan and https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/ITSI/4.4.3/Install/Plan#Indexer_and_search_head_sizing_example...

Ciao.
Giuseppe
