Splunk ITSI

Could you help me figure out how Insights for Infrastructure could help me with my environment?

Guys, this looks like a cool product but I have to say I'm unsure of exactly where it can fit into my environment! I have a windows estate with the usual DHCP, AD,Exchange. What value would i get from this free product? Is the 200GB limit an overall one or within a certain time period?

Hi Shocko,
This product would help you monitor the boxes those services are running on themselves. Not the state of AD or Exchange as much as the CPU, I/O, Disk, etc.

If you're running the splunk APP for infrastructure, the license limit is whatever your enterprise license is but if you're truly running the INSIGHT (no other splunk install at all), you have a 200GB rolling retention license, which means you can retain the last 200GB of data you've ingested, which will keep information on your environment for quite a while.

Thanks! The rolling 200GB is useful. I guess I'd better install it and try it out to see what 'insights' it offers.
