Does Splunk enterprise 6.6.1 require Java?

We are using Splunk enterprise 6.6.1 and we are owning the same in the server where it hosted. We received the below queries from our organisation. Request the answer for the same.
Does Splunk enterprise 6.6.1 using Java?
If yes, what is the supported version of Java?
Currently we have installed Java version 8 in the server, Will the Splunk work if I upgraded the java version to 9?
Based on the answers we need to proceed further.
Thanks
Mohan

Look closely at the apps you use. Some splunk apps require java, so i will suggest starting there. However splunk itself does not require it

Then most likely you should be good. For all Apps and Add-ons installed on your Splunk instance you can read the documentation to ensure that there is no Java dependency.

Splunk doesn't require Java and Splunk Enterprise doesn't use it. Upgrading JVM won't impact Splunk.
If you a are using any apps/add-ons to fetch details from JVM then you must confirm from respective app developers.
