I want to be able to track future Splunk versions, such as the current version 6.5.1 before they are released. I am unable to find documentation on the website that tracks future Splunk releases (like Splunk version 6.5.1 or version upgrades on Splunk Enterprise Security or apps). Can somebody please advise, so I can properly plan upgrade times? I don't want to wait until it is released before I start planning.
The content of a version is subject to change until the day it is released. Any planning you might do before release day could be wasted.
There is an RSS feed: http://www.splunk.com/page/release_rss

I see. So then it seems the best we can do is find out about the new version when it arrives. When a new version is released, do you know if there is a way to get automated notifications since our environment is not connected to the internet. We can't afford to check the website every day just to see if there is a new version. I know they have an RSS feed, maybe there is a way to leverage that
Sometimes they send out emails if you have signed up at https://www.splunk.com/page/update_my_account but not always.
Like @richgalloway mentioned, they have been doing a point release every couple of months, so yes you do need to start checking every couple of months if you aren't going to let your instances do their own check for updates.
I am less concerned about the content and more concerned with the actual day it is released. I can't find any information about release dates.
That's because Splunk doesn't have fixed release dates. New versions are released when they're ready. The last few have come out at 2-month intervals, but wouldn't rely on that.
