Splunk AppDynamics

What is the Term of Use of the content of the Controller Interface?

I don't know if TOU is the right term, but I took some screenshots of the Controller interface when we were using the AppDynamics tool for monitoring our machines.  It has the machines' name, the various metrics related to the infrastructure, and some of the information reported by the various agents.  If I want to include these screenshots in a publication or webpage, do I need to get written permission from AppDynamics, or it is covered under the fair use if I credit AppDynamics on each screenshot?  I think the total number of screenshots I want to show my readers is about a dozen or so.  Thank  you very much for your time.

Hi @ching.kong,

Thanks for your patience. After speaking with the legal team, there are no worries about the use of the screenshots. They wanted to focus on the importance of the content of the screenshots you use.

Be sure you are comfortable with what data is visible in those screenshots or redact any sensitive information. You may want to speak to your legal team about what is okay to be shared within those screenshots. We just want to make sure that your product security is safe.

Hi @ching.kong,

Thanks for asking your question on the community, I have a few questions.

  1. What sort of publication might this be published on?
  2. Will it paid or free?
  3. Where are you located

I'll be working with legal on this to get you an answer, there might be more followup questions.

It is not for a public or subscription based publication, but for a document that we create and distributed to a  small list of readers who are related to the project.  We list AppDynamics in the reference section, and each of the screenshots is captioned to indicate which software it is from.    We are located in California.

I checked with a few other folks, and they all seems to agree that we will be alright.  Let me know if you think I can accept the solution.  Thank your very much for your time.

Thank you for your concern.  Since we know who we distribute the report to, we will redact or sanitize the information on the screen shots accordingly.  Thank you very much for your help.
