Hello,
I´m using Free Splunk for first time, instructions are log in with user admin and password changeme but it doesn´t work, return invalid user/password
same issues...please assist
@snainwal if you are trying Splunk 7+, login ID/Password is set during the installation so it is no longer defaulted to admin/changeme, unless you have done so during the installation.
Either re-install and make sure you note down the ID/Pwd. Or else use one of the older answers https://answers.splunk.com/answers/834/how-to-reset-the-admin-password.html to reset password based on your Splunk version.
I had the same issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled choosing the custom install and set the password. Previously I had chosen default install and just clicked through and did not pay close attention. 🙂 I was able to log in with admin and the password I set. Hope this helps.
If you really can't find a way to log in, you might want to reset the admin password.
Reset the admin password you will need to have access to the file system:
- move the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/passwd
file to passwd.bak
- restart splunk. After the restart you should be able to login using the default login (admin/changeme).
let me know if this helps!
Tried this. Re-attempted with default login and got "No users exist. Please set up a user."
I too am unable to login on the free enterprise version, even after stopping splunk, renaming passwd, and restarting. I get "No users exist. Please set up a user."
