Why am I having problems logging in to Splunk?

I'm taking a class that requires that I download Splunk to my laptop. The first part of the class seemed fine but now I'm getting the following error message when I try to sign in for the capstone project.

Invalid username or password.
Your license is expired.
Please login as an administrator to update the license.

I've re-watched all the video from my class on the installation
I've tried to search your forum for answers, which would indicate that this is a common issue. But having difficulty finding an answer that seem to help me.

I'm logged into your website and it seems to recognize me but doesn't seem to recognize me at the login window.
I tried installing the free version, but it requires that I log in. I've tried to use my old username and password, and the admin /changeme option and I'm stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you login to your own Splunk instance your user will be admin and the password will be change me (first time). The it asks for the new password and you decide what that is.

It will not necessarily be your Splunk.com password. The user should be admin.
