Set default application to a new Role via .conf file

1.Due to some reverse proxy issues I can’t create a new Role in Splunk Web UI.
2.I have created a new role via authorize.conf file.
3.I need to set a default application for this new role via config file.

Where do I set this? Which file i need to Edit?

Kindly please help

Go to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/user-prefs/local/user-prefs.conf and add something like this:

[YOUR_ROLE]
default_namespace = YOUR_DEFAULT_APP

Where you replace "YOUR_ROLE" with the name of the role you wish to set a default for, and replace "YOUR_DEFAULT_APP" with the name of the app you wish the role to default to.
