I cannot log in

Dear Community,

this morning I'm non able to log in. I logged in yesterday from my own laptop, not the one that I used last friday in my Companies. Now my laptop is shut down. There works perfectly. Today I created another user, but I did not reinstal because I'm using the same user and It is installed already. In this part of the website I can login, and I can't in that one with the same information. http://francescosp:8000/it-IT/account/login

Does anyone have any suggestion? Heeeelp!

Thanks in advance. Best regards,
Jacopo Belloni

Hi TheBellonz,

do you use the trial license or the free license? User authentication is disabled with the free license. If you can access the filesystem of your Splunk installation go to /opt/splunk/etc (assuming you're on Linux) and delete the passwd file and restart Splunk. It will re-create a new default passwd file with the username admin and changeme as password.

hope this helps ...

cheers, MuS

I asked a colleuge of mine and He watched in the log file and He finds that the user does'nt exist (that Is anyway strange to me). Then I complete successfully the login using my password and admin as user name. Thanks anyway!

so in this case there is no user authentication and that's the reason why you cannot login - please mark this as answered, thx 🙂

Hi MuS,

I installed the free license at work the 64 bit for win 7, at home 64 bit for win 8.1. I'll look for the same directory.

Thank you so much,
Jacopo
