default.xml update without restarting splunk

Is it possible to update default.xml for an application without restarting Splunk? Thanks in advanced.

You can try refreshing the views and navs. Try these urls:

http://YOUR_SERVER:8000/en-US/debug/refresh?entity=/data/ui/nav

http://YOUR_SERVER:8000/en-US/debug/refresh?entity=/data/ui/views

Does anyone know what the permissions are to run this? I get a forbidden response on our production install. I assume i need some extra permissions.

I'm sure you no longer need this answer but for anyone stumbling across this via Google like I did, admin permissions are needed to run this command.
