How to setup email alerting in Splunk

I have set up alert and given my email ID. Is there further setup in SMTP that needs to be done.

Hi mike7860,

When you ask about further setup in SMTP, have you set up your "Email Alert Settings" in Manager. For example setting up the server you are using and email options, etc. The "Email Alert Settings" are at Manager => System Settings => Email Alert Settings.
