Email notification interpretation using splunk?

My client generates daily reports for different Financial asset classes- FX, EQ, Credit etc. For this i need to build a dashboard that represents reporting status i.e. for each asset class how many reports were generated, not generated etc.
For some of these asset class report generation is available in status table of Oracle database but few asset classes rely on email sent by Datastage (ETL server) that reports success or failure of report generation.

MY QUERY: How can the email notification be integrated and interpreted with Splunk to read status and display on dashboard?
