Node custom attributes

I want to add its:translate attribute to few elements in source XML of dashboard.

Is it possible ? Cause when I tried to do that, splunk throws a warning stating that the node attribute is unknow.

Suppose for the search element there is no such its:translate attribute till date.

So there is no way to add an additional attribute to an element and like a programming language define the attribute behavior which will be utilized by splunk.

Just curious, wouldn't that add functional flexibility.

That would explain the "Simple" in "Simple XML".  Go to https://ideas.splunk.com to make a case for such a feature.

Splunk dashboards use Simple XML rather than the XML you may be used to using elsewhere.  One cannot create random elements.  If Splunk doesn't know what an element is then the editor will not save the dashboard.  You may be able to edit the dashboard code from the CLI, but that doesn't mean Splunk will know what to do with your element.
