Splunk DBConnect Error - Splunkd daemon is not responding: ('The read operation timed out',)

Hi,

I have successfully installed Splunk DBConnect and also successfully connected one database. However, when I tried to connect second database, I received the following error message:

Encountered the following error while trying to update: Splunkd daemon is not responding: ('The read operation timed out',)

Is there any one can help to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance!

I've written a blog recently with regards to the DB Connect app. I had this exact issue and hopefully this will help you in solving the problem or at least troubleshooting it.You can find at www.satisnet.co.uk/blog/splunk-db-connect/

I am actually using Splunk with a trial license and received warning regarding crossing of daily limits soon after I tried establishing database connections. Can this be one of the reasons to make Splunk daemon not respond in time?

This often indicates that Splunk can't connect to the database with the information you have provided it. Perhaps the host or port number is incorrect, or there is a firewall preventing Splunk from reaching the database server. Also, check that you have entered the username and password correctly. You can see if the connection is being made and perhaps get additional debugging information by taking a look at the audit logs/table on the database side.
