Splunk Beginner

New to splunk, come from a solarwinds monitoring environment, anyone have any suggestions on how to best transition to splunk, any recommended intro books, videos etc... to get me using the search feature to monitor effectively?

welcome to the Splunk Community!

The first things I can hint are the following:

• follow the Splunk Fundamental 1 training (https://www.splunk.com/en_us/training/free-courses/splunk-fundamentals-1.html),
• follow the Splunk Search Tutorial (https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.1.0/SearchTutorial/WelcometotheSearchTutorial);
• see in the Community if someone else already did what you have to do : I remember that there should be many posts on Solarwind.

Then, if possible, try to follow the Splunk certification paths.

Additionally, if you have more specific questions, searching through Splunk Answers and reading other's experience is helpful as well.
