Monitoring Splunk Server performance usig PRTG/ SNMP

Our company uses PRTG to monitor all network traffic/bandwidth. We are currently deploying Splunk and would like to add Splunk network interfaces and monitor them using PRTG via SNMP. The Splunk servers are Linux. Can we install the SNMPD on these Splunk Linux servers to poll the network bandwidth utilization?
