What is the significance of cumulative_hits below? Search match hits? number of events returned from a search?

07-09-2010 08:59:37.229 INFO Metrics - group=pipeline, name=exec, processor=sendout, cpu_seconds=0.000000, executes=10, cumulative_hits=735

In group=pipeline in metrics.log, cumulative_hits is the number of times the given index-time processor (in this case sendout in the exec pipeline) has been executed since splunkd was last restarted.

jrodman recently posted an interesting blog going into detail on metrics.log. Check it out here: http://blogs.splunk.com/2010/08/13/some-details-on-metrics-log-data-format-utility/

Thanks saw the blog but I don't think cumulative_hits was defined. It did have other interesting details .
