configuring multiple instances of splunk on same server

Hello team,

I am trying out splunk in my dev environment and want to confugure Splunk DS  and License server on same instance. 

Should i create two splunk installation directories?

Also, how can i specify the separate web ports for DS and License server?

Hello @sreejags 

As you are asking for development purpose you can install multiple Splunk instance on same machine. 

When you start first Splunk instance it will work normally with default Splunk ports. Bt when you starts second and onwards Splunk Instances , It will ask you to provide New ports for that particular Splunk Instance.

Another point, As You are deploying Deployment Server & Licence Master on Single Machine I suggest you to install Single Splunk instance with multiple role. But this is for development purpose only.

For production.

• One instance dedicated to the role of Deployment Server
• One instance dedicated to the role of Licence Master
