I had the same problem!
probably you ordered a license for a duration more than one year (e.g. from september 2021 to december 2022).
In this case, you should receive from Splunk two licenses: one from september 2021 to september 2022 and one from september 2022 to december 2022, but you probably loaded only the second one.
In this way Splunk find only the second license but not the present one.
Check the time borders of your license in [Settings -- Licensing -- Add license details].

Hi Giuseppe,
Our license goes into at 3:00 AM on Sunday. So, I wanted to install the new license prior the current license expiring. I wanted to mitigate any possible service interruptions.

you can install now both the licenses, you don't need to wait the the first one will expire.

Ther will be 2lic files in the mail sent to you you have only uploaded one of them add the other one too and you will se valid license.
