Is the perpetual license option being discontinued?

Hi,

My employer is currently looking at a capacity upgrade, and when talking with Splunk account manager they are pushing pretty hard to go with a term license.

During this conversation, I was told that the perpetual license option was being 'discontinued soon', and that while the existing purchases would be honored (for ongoing maintenance), new license purchases would only be term licenses in the near future.

Is this correct? Is the perpetual license option being discontinued?

That's the same talk I heard as well. It is a shame as I felt perpetual was a good option for long planning of splunk customers. But have a word with your account manager as they might be able to do a longer "term license" with an averaged out pricing
