How to upgrade Splunk 6.0.3 to a newer version running on Amazon AMI Linux?

Hey, we run Splunk enterprise on Amazon AMI Linux

How can we upgrade splunk to a newer version ?

To upgrade your Splunk follow the below steps

  1. Stop current Splunk instance.
  2. Copy splunk latest version splunk-6.2-Linux-x86_64.gz ( Its not exact package name) to the same directory (opt/splunk/).
  3. run command tar -xzvf splunk-6.2-Linux-x86_64.gz --strip-path=1

Which version of Splunk and on which Operating system your Splunk is running currently ?

Also is your Splunk deployed in standalone environment or distributed ?

hey

splunk version : 6.0.3

its in Amazon AMI linux :
splunk-6.0.3-204106-Linux-x86_64-manifest (i think its RH or centos)

its one server with few universal-forwarders
