Hi!
I'm trying to download the license file enttrial.lic for the Splunk Enterprise trial version (older versions), but the link doesn't seem to work. I get the message "Oops! 404 Error:Page not found". I've tried downloading through the last versions of Firefox and Chrome - same thing. Any ideas?

Hi tsvetanar
You do not need to explicitly download and install a separate license key for Enterprise Trial version.
Just download Splunk Enterprise and install and your 30 day Trial License would automatically start.

I have the same problem...
Just want to practise for bots and follow here using botsv1
https://github.com/splunk/botsv1#splunk-indexed
This doc said "Different versions of the software may or may not work properly." and I am using Splunk Enterprise free trial 6.5.2, but after start splunk, I was told "There are no valid Splunk Enterprise Trial licenses installed. You will be prompted to install a license if you choose this option."
So, which version should I use for the botsv1?

I had the same problem on WindowsI was able to use the license from a newer trial version 7.3.1 with my 6.6.5 version. I spun up a VM and copied from %SPLUNK_HOME%\etc\licenses\download-trial\enttrial.lic then restarted Splunkd service. I'm still working on setup, but haven't run into any issues yet.

Hm, thanks, but under the section for older versions of Windows there's a note stating I need to additionally download the enttrial.lic file, because the license for older versions ofOS (apart from Linux) have expired. I'm with Windows 7, so I need this file. My installation of the Splunk Enterprise trial ends prematurely and after numerous checks, the expired license is a good candidate for a reason why the installation won't finish.

With Windows 7 Splunk has discontinued the support since its 6.5.x release.
You can check it from the System Requirements page of Splunk docs -
OS Support with latest release of Splunk -
https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/7.3.0/Installation/Systemrequirements
OS Support with 6.4.x release of Splunk -
https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.4.11/Installation/Systemrequirements
Can you confirm which version of Splunk are you trying to download and install ? You need to go for 6.4.11:
splunk-6.4.11-0691276baf18-x64-release.msi
Get it from - https://www.splunk.com/page/previous_releases#x86_64windows
Please accept as answer if this responds your query
