Can One Search Head Pool be a Different Version of Splunk Than Another Search Head Pool?

Hello all,

I'm in an environment with about 8 different Search Head Pools along with some stand alone Search Heads. My question is, can I upgrade (6.1.1) one or two Search Head Pools over a weekend and the rest of my environment on an older version (6.0.2) until they are upgraded as well?

Everything in my brain says I'm fine as long as the entire pool is running the same version... Am I missing anything?

All Search Head Pools and Indexers are running 6.0.2 currently and we are planning on the upcoming 6.1.2 release but the idea is the same as above. I'd like to upgrade in phases instead of all search heads in a single maintenance window.

Any input would be appreciated.

I think everything in your brain is working as expected. 🙂
The only constraints exist within a SHP, not between multiple, parallel and hence independent SHPs. Just make sure that all your SHs are upgrade before upgrading the indexers.
