Hi,

I see two (probably) new endpoints under server control. I'm using Splunk Enterprise 7.0.2

alt text

<link href="/services/server/control/restart_webui_async" rel="restart_webui_async"/>
<link href="/services/server/control/restart_webui_polite" rel="restart_webui_polite"/>

However couldn't find any documentation on the above two endpoints in Splunk docs
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/7.0.2/RESTREF/RESTsystem#server.2Fcontrol

Would appreciate if anyone can share some insight into this.

Just trying to fix the problem where "/restart_webui_polite" is involved.

When you read docs at https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.0.3/DistSearch/SHCdeploymentoverview it references

 /opt/splunk//etc/system/default/app.conf:
 ...
 reload.web                 = http_post /server/control/restart_webui_polite

When you run rolling restart for SHC members or run

curl -k -u admin:changeme https://localhost:8089/services/server/control/restart_webui_polite -X POST

In splunkd.log I see

04-22-2020 12:14:14.630 +0200 INFO UiHttpListener - Restarting webui in rolling fashion

It's probably related to rolling restart in SHC.
