is there a REST API to check the Splunk system status?

there is an api to check the current status of a splunk environment and of the machine where splunk is running (disk space, cpu usage, etc)?

Indeed Splunk has some restAPI as demonstrated at http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/7.0.0/RESTTUT/RESTsearches but they don't provide the information that you're looking for
