Getting Data In

iv just created a new account.

iv have admin role assigned to my user account 

iv given admin role all permissions, yet when i try to add data, any data, it wont let me and says i need to contact admin.

im only trying to test stuff out so im trying to add data from my local machine, yet it still wont let me.

iv searched online but cant find anything help.

im basically at my wits end, iv done full mods for games that have easier user comfort than this.......

pleaseeee help.

1) May i know if you created a Splunk Cloud trial or did you download Splunk enterprise free version and installed on your laptop?

2) can you pls run this command and update us the result you get:

| rest /services/authentication/users splunk_server=local 
| table title, roles, capabilities
| rename title as user

1. What version do you have and on what platform? (in labels you put Windows but it isn't explicitly stated otherwise).

2. Admin user (and admin role) already has all capabilities (except can_delete) so you didn't need to "give all permissions".

3. What exactly are you trying to add and how? Upload to the web interface? Add input from Settings menu?

4. What is the exact message and at which stage? (screenshot maybe?)
