Why do I get a timeout when trying to connect to Splunk Cloud from the Splunk Javascript SDK?

I get a timeout when trying to connect using my splunk cloud instance URL and port 8089. Is this supported?

I want to send log events from the Javascript SDK to Splunk Cloud.
