Getting Data In

Using EventGen to simulate data to test my Splunk build

Hi,

I am using this app: https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/1924

I am trying to use this SA-EventGen application, to simulate log data, so I can essentially stress test my Splunk distributed clustered environment, with 3 indexers, 3 search heads and a management vm. I have installed the app onto my indexer1-vm, however I cant get this to work. I get the following message:

unable to initalize modular inut "modinput_eventgen" defined in the app "SA-Eventgen": Introspecting scheme=modinupt_eventgen: Unable to run "opt/splunk/etc/apps/SA-Eventgen/linux_x86_64/bin/modinput_eventgen --scheme": child failed to start: Permission denied.

Even after a restart, I am still unable to create a stress test for this environment.

Hi @ASGrover

You could try the following and then restart splunk:

chmod +x /opt/splunk/etc/apps/SA-Eventgen/linux_x86_64/bin/modinput_eventgen
