Things you can not do with forwarder license

Hi,
I applied a forwarder license with Enterprize installer and built a forwarder.
I want to know the list of things that we can not do with forwarder license.

I recognize that it is impossible to schedule a report with a splunk server which forwards mainly to forwarding license.

Do not touch any licensing configurations on the forwarder. Just leave that alone. The only time this is not true is if you are using a Heavy Forwarder, which is really an Indexer that forwards to other Indexers instead of writing to disk. If you have HF, then treat the license like an Indexer or you will get into license violations.

Hi @t_kasuga,

The Forwarder license is only used to simply forward data. It is not valid for use on instances that also perform additional functions, such as indexing. So you can not index,search etc using forwarder license. For a universal forwarder, the license is enabled or applied automatically.
