Splunk REST API without SSL (i.e HTTP only)

Hi,

I'm trying to use Splunk REST API, using standard HTTP request (not HTTPS). When trying to connect to port 8089, I get a connection reset, because the server assumes that the connection on this port is SSL.

A search over the conf files found nothing.

My Splunk is running in a safe environment, and for some reasons I can't use SSL connections.

Is it really impossible to use splunk REST API via unsecured HTTP?

Link in the answer is broken - missing the 'f' from the end of http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/latest/Admin/Serverconf

this worked. setting enableSplunkdSSL=false, effectively enables http. This is useful for testing locally.
