Do the scripts you place in opt/splunk/bin/scripts

Remain persistent even after upgrades? Can someone provide documentation that explains?

Note: the scripts we need are not for the app context, so placing them there for us won't work.

Thanks

Hi,

After splunk upgrade, scripts in /opt/splunk/bin/scripts should be there as it is but on safer side I'll suggest you to take backup before upgrade.

Thanks,

Can you please point me to any documentation that supports this? I felt like this was the case as a vaguely remember upgrading and it still working.... but am engaging with a customer and like to have the doc reference if possible

Thanks

I am not aware of any documentation, when you upgrade splunk it will overwrite any existing files and/or place any new files in directories. As /opt/splunk/bin/scripts is empty directory when you fresh install splunk so I am not expecting splunk will remove or overwrite any files in /opt/splunk/bin/scripts directory during upgrade.
