We have splunk enterprise trial version on machine. We are trying to call that instance through API by putting IP address in URL. But not able to connect? Is it possible to make API call to IP address.

Are you checked that there haven't any firewall on that another machine?

My colleague's machine we have installed Splunk enterprise trial version. And trough my machine we are making below call in command prompt:
C:\Users\dhiraj_chaudhari> curl -u username:Password "https://192.168.0.1XX:8089/services/receivers/simple?source=www&sourcetype=web_event" -d "Sun Jul 10 15:56:02 PDT 2011 User myusername logged in successfully."
curl: (7) Failed to connect to 192.168.0.1XX port 8089: Timed out
curl: (7) Failed to connect to 192.168.0.1XX port 8089: Timed out
IS there any way to make it wok?
