Is there a Splunk Java Framework to collect application metrics to index and report on in Splunk?

Hi,

I am new to Splunk and need your help in finding out if we have Java API / Framework from Splunk which can collect application metrics and pass it over to engine for indexing and reporting?

Note: I would like to skip the process of populating it in logs then write additional logic to filter required details.

You may want to take a look at the HTTP event collector and associated logging libraries here as well.

You have a couple choices:

  1. Use JMS to collect data with the app: JMS Messaging Modular Input https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/1317/
  2. Roll your own into your Java code using the SDK: http://dev.splunk.com/java
