Getting Data In

If we install a 32 bit forwarder on a webserver, will our 64 bit indexer have issues indexing the data?

We have our Splunk infrastructure running on 64 bit OS.
Now we want to index some data which is coming from a webserver which runs on 32 bit OS.
If we install the 32 bit forwarder will it have issues indexing data to 64 bit Infrastructure.

Any thing else which can be thought of/ looked at before installing the forwarder?

32-bit forwarders work just fine with 64-bit indexers. (Speaking from experience.)

Thanks for the reply @twinspop
we are running on 6.1.3 is there a specific version of the forwarder which can be compatible or even the higher version is also compatible.

Where can I find the installers specific to versions.

Anil.

I've found that the Universal Forwarders are pretty forgiving on version differences. I have 6.1.x indexers receiving data from 6.2.x UFs, as well as 6.2.x indexers receiving from as old as 5.x UFs. Neither show any problems. Downloads are here: http://www.splunk.com/en_us/download/universal-forwarder.html
