Getting Data In

How do I use HTTP Event Collector without a MINT project?

Hi all,

We're using Splunk enterprise and the HTTP Event Collector. Now I was wondering if we could use the Mint mobile SDK to log events here from our mobile apps. We don't care about the Mint features other then the HTTP Event Collector, so we don't want to create a Mint project. Long question short: can we use the SDK without an API-key if we just want to use the Http event collection?

Many thanks

Hi @cedrickg,

If I am understanding your question correctly you do not want to create API Key on Splunk Management Console and you want to use HTTP Event Collector (HEC) to send data directly from Mobile Device to Splunk Enterprise then yes it is possible, the only thing is your HEC Splunk server should be accessible on Internet.

Please check http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Mint/1.0/ProductOverview/AboutSplunkMINTdatacollection
Here you can see how to configure HEC in SDK for Android http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/MintAndroidSDK/5.2.x/DevGuide/AddSplunkMINTtoyourproject
