Getting Data In

Does moving indexed data from one Splunk indexer to another count against license?

Hello,

We want to move previously indexed data into a new Splunk instance and wanted to make sure that doesn't count against our daily license.

I found the link below in a previously asked question but the link was dead.

http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.1511/Installation/MigrateaSplunkinstance

Can anyone confirm that it doesn't count?

Thanks

As long as you're not re-indexing the data (exporting raw data from old index and re-indexing it) , the instance migration will NOT be counted against the license usage.

FYI, the updated link is this: http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.5.0/Installation/MigrateaSplunkinstance

I believe you meant to say "will NOT be counted", right?

Ohh yes ... thanks for pointing that out.
