Getting Data In

DB Connect inputs missing from inputs.conf

I have 3 database inputs defined in Manager, but when I view $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/dbx/local/inputs.conf only 1 of the inputs is there. I also checked the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/dbx/default/inputs.conf file and they are not there either. Data is still getting indexed from all 3 inputs so everything appears to be working as designed. Is there another file that holds DB Connect input configuration details?

Yes, the actual configuration stanza can be in any app in the etc/<app>/local/inputs.conf. It depends in which app context you were in when you created the input. For example, when you entered the Splunk Manager from the Search app, then the stanza will be stored in etc/apps/search/local/inputs.conf.

You can use a CLI command to quickly find out where the configuration is stored:

$ splunk cmd btool inputs list dbmon --debug

This will print the merged config with a prefix on each line with the app where it's defined in.

That explains it. Thanks!
