Can the splunk forwarder and the splunk instance reside on the same server and partition with out conflict?

I have an instance of splunk installed and the universal forwarder installed on the same partition? Does Splunk support this configuration?

The wiki states that two instances of splunk can be installed on the same system but on different locations (partitons).

Hi, this is no problem. There might be a conflict with the ports, but while installation you can give different ports for the instances. I can at least confirm this for linux systems, already did it myself.

As long as you separate the installation directories there won't be a problem. This is what the wiki refers to. It doesn't matter which partition each instance is on.
