So while it might be a no-brainer if we're enterprise users in AWS managing all on our own, to deploy with the Enterprise AMI (8.0.6)
There is a cost associated with running this instance other than our current license (we would be BYOL).
So what are the advantages of a BYOL AMI deployment as compared to a self-managed instance?
some thoughts:
a) timeliness of patch awareness
b) certified OS platform for upgrades
c) standardized update process for keeping patch aware?
d) did I misunderstand the pricing charts? Is an AMI deployment with BYOL not incur any additional costs from Splunk? As in: the costs detailed on the marketplace pages are just AWS billed costs?
Splunk does not charge for using AMI instances. The charges you see listed in the AMI Marketplace are for the EC2 instance alone.
