MySQLConnector : "Can't connect to MySQL server" error

I just installed the mySQLConnector app.

Added one database connection, one "spec".

In the app, clicked on Explore your MySQL databases. In the Select schema box I clicked on View Results. This puts the following in the MySQLConnector search bar "| mysqlquery spec=gp-prod query="show databases""

The result is

 (2003, "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'my_URL_here' (110)")

Is there some other configuration I need to do before this will work?

I have the answer! I am a doofus. That's the answer. We're running our system in AWS. I needed to add the splunk security group to the DB security group. DOH!

Didn't try. Will do so today and get back to you. Thanks for the "next steps". Needed that.

Can you use the same credentials to connect from the Splunk system via the commandline mysql tools to the remote mysql server?
