If i want to create a peernode , is iT mandatory to have a masternode, or is masternode optional. I learned how to create both, but i dont get if one nerds THE other

Hi @kimmyb,

if you want to have an Indexer Cluster, it's always structured in:

  • 1 Master Node
  • 2 or more Indexers (search peers)

If you don't want an Indexer Cluster, but only one or more Indexers where data are stored, but without data replication (so without HA), you don't need a Master Node.

Actually you could do it also with one master node and one indexer/peer. Then you will get clustered buckets and you can easily increase it's size later on. Of course it's better to use at least two or even three peers in the first phase to get better HA.

If you want you can also do it as a multisite cluster with one site if you are expecting that you will need second site later.
