I'm unable to configure my splunk virtual box instance as a license master. How would I do this?

I currently have a virtual box machine running ubuntu desktop 14.04 on my mac(host machine). I'm trying to configure my virtual machine to be the license master but my indexer(mac Splunk instance) is giving the me an error(unable to connect to license master). My virtual machine is attached to bridged adapter.

I had this similar issue and to resolve it I added my enterprise license to the slave, to move it out of the trial group and restarted. Once I did this, I was able to connect on port 8089 without an issue. I think the trial group mismatch was causing the error.

Hi ashnet16,

first make sure there is nothing blocking the access to your management port on the license master, so this is purely OS related. As soon as your license slave can connect to the management port of the license master, read the docs to setup everything:

Also, I changed both the management and web ports on the vm and sshd is installed.
