How to set up the deployer while creating a search head cluster?

Hi,

Could you please advise how can I set up a deployer for configuring/installing a search head cluster? Do I need to install Splunk Enterprise and have to enable any conf file to enable the deployer? What configuration changes do I need to do to set up a deployer?

I have gone through splunk docs for search head clustering, but no where is it mentioned about installation/configuration steps for the deployer.

thx for the link.If I am not getting it wrong below is my understanding....

Deployer functionality is by default enabled on splunk enterprise instance.So to set up a deployer we just have to install splunk as usual and specify a security key (in server.conf stanza) will automatically assign deployer role to the server? Also after setting up security key we have to point other slaves to deployer right?Also any other steps required.Kindly advice

Sorry, but I will not advice further because it is all written in the docs. Just follow the steps:

• Configure the deployer's security key
• The key is optional, but if you use it, you must set it to the same value on all cluster members and the deployer
• Use the -conf_deploy_fetch_url parameter specifies the URL and management port for the deployer instance. This parameter is optional during initialization, but you do need to set it before you can use the deployer functionality
