Deployment Server Deep Dive Documentation

I'm looking to find information about the Splunk Deployment Server beyond the stuff found here:

https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.0.6/Updating/Aboutdeploymentserver

For example:

https://conf.splunk.com/files/2019/slides/FN2048.pdf

talks about how DS and their clients need Layer 3 to negotiate.  That's not something you can find on the official docs.  In fact, I wish the main doc focused less on server classes and more on how the DS actually functions.

Hello Chris,

Thanks for sharing link. Seem after conf20 the content has been moved away. Would request you to share the new link or deck if it still exists on website.

Maybe not as in the weeds as you wanted, but here are some good resources:

https://www.hurricanelabs.com/splunk-tutorials/under-the-hood-examining-your-splunk-deployment-serve...

https://www.hurricanelabs.com/blog/the-no-nonsense-guide-to-creating-classy-server-classes-in-splunk

There's likely others. Hurricane Labs is a solid Splunk resource.

Hope this helped!
