Deleting a bucket

Suppose I want to delete a bucket from an indexer for some reason. Can I:

  1. stop splunk
  2. delete the offending bucket
  3. start splunk

Any harmful side effects? I've done this on a test setup and seems ok.

thanks,
bw

That's the right way. Buckets in the thawed state can be removed while the server is running, but hot / warm/ cold should not be.
