how to persoanlize HTML navigation and to set it as default page in an app

I would like to customize my html file in views of app. I also want to set it as default . When i try doing it using

  <a href="my_page_html default="true">My Page/</a> 

i get my navigation header proper, but landing page looks for first <view > tag and if not present it takes from default.xml and presents alert/dashboards. how to fix this issue. I am trying using splunk 6 XML to html converted file

Have you tried using the User Navigation within Splunk?
