Dashboards & Visualizations

Why did dashboards/views disappear after an "asset upload", and is there a way to restore them?

We used the "asset upload" feature within the app properties, and when browsing to the page, we get a 500 internal server error

1) apps -> manage apps -> click "edit properties" on the app your working with...
2) click "upload asset" and attach your item (a .js script was added
3) saved

I believe what happened was the name used for the new upload was the same name of their App that was already created effectively overwriting their dashboard/view ....

I'm browsing the Splunk directory and I do find the folder with the views and files, but they aren't visible in the Splunk UI

Question: Is there anyway to restore or undo? Or is there a best next step

The name in the asset upload should be soft_locked because this renames the whole dashboard.
I would than click to unlock and edit the name field if needed...

The assumption was the name in this area was going to be a friendly name for the asset being uploaded so that is why the name was changed. Changing the name in this area changed the name of the dashboard causing some linking and orphan problems/issues.
We ended up changing the name of the .py script being uploaded to a more friendly name.

I've resolved this question but through some growing pains.

Request Enhancement: Provide a soft lock or check-n-balance pop-up stating what changing the name will do
