Hi,
I'm a trainee at my company and soon I'm leaving. I created several dashboard, but want to change ownership of the dashboards because my account will be deleted. I'm not sure if the dashboards will be deleted too. We currently use an "App" in splunk for our department.
I read online that I can change it here: Setting > All configuration > Reassign ownership
But I don't see "Reassign ownership"?
Is it still possible in this version? Or how can I do this.

If you do not have the Reassign Knowledge Objects
capability/button, then perhaps the person who is supposed to obtain the KOs does. Otherwise, changes the names of all of your important stuff by adding CLONEME
to the name and setting the permissions
to App
or Global
so that the new owner can see/edit them. Then have him clone each one-by-one and delete the original when each is copied.

I ended up using this method.. A co-worker of mine cloned all the dashboards and I deleted the old ones. Creates the same result as changing ownership.

Your role has to have the capability to be able to reassign knowledge objects. Then a "reassign knowledge objects" button appears on the upper right corner of the view you're already looking at
Settings -> All Configurations -> button in upper right

I don't see the button "reassign knowledge objects", guess I'm not permitted to do this.
Thanks for the tip anyway.

You'll have to ask an admin to reassign the KOs then. Please escalate to your splunk admins.

Hi @jonydupre,
I don't know which Splunk version you have, in 8.0.1 (it's a new feature) in [Setting -- All configuration], in top right, there's a button "Reassign ownership" that permits to do this.
Otherwise, if you can access configuration files, you can modify the file local.meta
that you can find in $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/your_app/metadata
but you must restart Splunk.
Ciao.

Also, we are not permitted to acces config files. I think I'll have to contact our Splunk team for this one.

Hi @jonydupre,,
as @jkat54 hinted, check your permissions.
What's your Splunk version?
Ciao.
